PATIENCE

Some questions re: PATIENCE.

Do we have enough patience? Has modern life robbed us of this character trait? Do we need to cultivate patience as a daily practice? What is patience useful for and why do we need it? Is there anyone you know who you think may have the patience required to work at something like stone sculpture- chiseling, carving and polishing the same marble statue for 10 years? I don't. How about the patience to build an enormous cathedral by hand? Read an 800 page Russian novel? Do we have the patience to let our bodies and minds heal themselves? Without drugs that rush us into states of false-healing? How has our relationship to patience atrophied since we were children and told to be patient? Is patience only talked about but never modeled? What is the number one enemy to patience in your life?
