Tiny Imperfect Fiction 11
Martin put down the little book and felt better. He didn't know why he felt better, he just did. And that was enough for him to recommend and give the surprising little book to his buddy Jim.
Jim read the book and he, too, felt good. He felt so good he read it again in the toilet- twice. When he came out of the loo, he gave it to his wife Linda, telling her, “I feel better about our talk the other day- I'd like you to read this.”
Linda read the book, and sure enough, she felt better. When she ran into Bobbie outside New Shooz, Linda gave her the book, saying, “I was thinking about what you were telling me over coffee Tuesday and I think you might want to read this little book. I feel better than I have in a long time, and I swear it's this plain-looking little book." Bobbie replied, “Why bless your heart” and took the book. Linda didn't know if Bobbie was offended or grateful.
Turns out, Bobbie did read the book and wouldn't you know it, she felt better as well. She gave the book to Dwayne. And then Dwayne gave it to Sheila, Sheila gave it to Robert, Robert gave it to Bill, Bill gave it to Carol, Carol gave it to her husband Reverend Wannamaker, and then some real math happened- Rev. Wannamaker's whole congregation bought a copy of the little book after the mention of it in his Sunday sermon. And before you could say “Well I'll be darned” that little book turned up on the bedsides, coffee tables, desks, train seats, and car seats of most of North America. Then Europe followed. Then China, then Brazil and I lost track of it after Brazil.
Anyway, if you see this little book, be sure to pick it up and read it. It seems to make people feel better.
